Did you know that there are almost 10,000 people in this region with epilepsy? It’s a condition that impacts the entire family well beyond medical concerns.
Epilepsy Ottawa provides telephone and face-to-face support through our Intake & Referral services. We help individuals and families struggling with epilepsy to understand:
- Their diagnosis and learn to live well with epilepsy
- Financial aid resources in the community
- The requirements and process to get a driver’s license reinstated when they’re eligible
- Their rights in the workplace
- And so much more.
When considering staff time for intake, meeting, research, and follow up, as well as space rental and other operational expenses, each face-to-face meeting costs about $100, but we provide this service FREE OF CHARGE.
Join our Face to Face campaign to ensure that families living with epilepsy can continue to have these crucial conversations about
their diagnosis, resources, and rights.
All it takes is $10 from 10 friends to support
one person struggling with epilepsy.
All registered participants will receive a tool kit within 2 business days of registration. The tool kit includes suggested scripts, facts, calls to action, images, and social media posts to help you ask friends, family, and your larger network to support people struggling with epilepsy.
How do I participate?
It’s simple
1. Set a goal
For every $100 you raise, you’ll raise enough for 1 person or family struggling with epilepsy to find support in a face-to-face meeting. How to get you to $100? Simply ask 10 friends to donate $10.
2. Set up your campaign page
In a few quick and easy steps on our Face to Face page at Canada Helps, you can set up your Face to Face campaign page and receive your very own URL to share with friends and family when you ask them to help you support people with epilepsy.
When you set up your campaign page, include an explanation of why this matters to you. Whether it’s a personal story, an explanation of why you care, or a version of the description on Epilepsy Ottawa’s campaign page, it will help donors understand why it’s important to donate and how their donation will help someone.
3. Ask 10 people to donate $10 to your Face to Face campaign page and you’ve supported 1 person with epilepsy!
Once your page is set up we’ll send you a tool kit within 2 business days that includes a script, email, and social media posts to help you ask for donations.
